Author of Sav Zigzag ORDBMS, Sergey Savushkin, has developed Smanswer (SMart ANSWER) universal I&R system in the beginning of 2004. System was focused on users of mobile phones with XHTML browser and really represented a Java servlet superstructure above Sav Zigzag. Original feature was that Smanswer used (and uses) DBMS not only for search, but also for generation of user interface. It was enough to use only navigation keys and was not required to enter words during the database queries.
In next 2005 the Smanshome hosting was born working under Smans server control. Users of mobile phones had an opportunity to exchange files, to store them on the remote server and even to create the simple Web site. Everything, that was in the Smanswer, has passed in Smans. Nevertheless, the main thing that has been added is possibility to create a database and to manage it from a mobile Web browser. For this purpose earlier, it was necessary to use Sav ZBase (desktop variant of Sav Zigzag DBMS). Smans server had got the completeness.
In 2006, 2007 the work with Smans had been suspended and renewed only in 2008. Sergey has added in Smans new unique features: the interpretation of managing HTML form. This Smans HTML form is represented as declarative language of higher level than combination PHP/JSP/ASP + SQL, and has advantages above them, same as for example, SQL has advantage over DBase and PHP over Perl. Certainly, the advantage is appeared under specific tasks, Web development of dynamic database-driven sites. Distribution of Smans server, as open source product, has begun with 2008 July.
